Brenda and I have spent many hours digging, planting and nurturing our garden. It is a work in process but the hard part is over. Now we can admire our accomplishment while watching the birds feast. Here are some pictures we would like to share with our family and friends.

My how things have grown in the last year. This is what it looks like mid year, 2011.

This is the pathway leading into the backyard.

And the same pathway looking out. The large circle of petunia's were not supposed to last the winter but as you can see, they are alive and doing well.

This is the pathway in 2010 leading towards the house. The solar lights make nighttime romantic.

The Crape Mytle was Brenda's birthday present from her mom in 2009.

The Agapanthus came from dividing the plants growing in the front yard.

They are not fast growers but my "gangreen thumb" has not killed them yet.

Here are where the big rocks were dug up and replaced with various plants. The biggest rock pointing skyward in the image on the left is estimated to weight about 1200 pounds and is now a focal point.

Behold the 1200 pound rock in all its glory. The weight of a rock is about 3 times the weight of water. The rock is 36" X 16" X 20" or 11520 cubic inches and a cubic inch of water weights 0.0361267 pounds. This calculates to 416 lbs of water or 1248 lbs of rock.
